EHS Choir Achievements

2024-25 Honors

  • 8 All staters (out of 501 5a & 6a high schools, this number was the 4th highest in the state!)
  • 5 Sweepstakes trophies (Superior Ratings on stage and in the sight reading room)
  • 8 Consecutive years of Sweepstakes
  • Varsity Treble Won Runner Up at the 2025 Celebration of Excellence

2023-24 Honors

  • Varsity Treble won the prestigious Mark of Excellence Commended Winner Award given by the Foundation for Music Education. Half of all choirs who apply win this award.
  • Varsity Treble won the prestigious Mark of Excellence Commended Winner Award given by the Foundation for Music Education. Half of all choirs who apply win this award.
  • Varsity Mixed won the Best in Festival Award at the Bluebonnet Classic in San Antonio in April 2024.
  • EHS had sixteen students go to State Solo and Ensemble, with fifteen of them earning a medal at the event.
  • Five students earned a spot in the All-State Choir in January.  That is the highest number of students for Elkins HS choir in its 32-year history.
  • EHS had thirty-two students participate in the TMEA Region 13 All-Region Choir in November.
  • EHS Choir had five choirs participate in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation in April, and all of them earned highest marks from the judges and sweepstakes awards.
  • The Varsity Mixed Choir earned the Performance of Distinction at Celebration of Excellence in April, the fifth straight time they have earned that honor.
  • The Varsity Mixed Choir performed at the “Hear the Future” clinic with the Houston Chamber Choir in January 2024!

2022-23 Honors

  • Varsity Mixed won the prestigious Mark of Excellence National Winner Award given by the Foundation for Music Education. Only 25% of all choirs who apply win this award, and we are the first FBISD Mixed Choir to earn this honor.
  • Varsity Treble won the prestigious Mark of Excellence Commended Winner Award given by the Foundation for Music Education. Half of all choirs who apply win this award.
  • EHS had twenty students go to State Solo and Ensemble, with seventeen of them earning a medal at the event.
  • Three students earned a spot in the All-State Choir in January, with two being in the prestigious Mixed Choir.
  • EHS had twenty-six students participate in the TMEA Region 13 All-Region Choir in November.
  • EHS Choir had six choirs participate in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation in April, and five of them earned highest marks from the judges and sweepstakes awards.

  • As a result of the performances last year, the Varsity Mixed Choir has been invited to receive a clinic with the Houston Chamber Choir in January 2024!
